Source notes

Read the evidence for the question it can answer

A trial, a medicine label and a licence record do different jobs. Follow the source that matches the question.

The source notes used here were recorded on or before September 26, 2026. Later changes may be missing.

For weight results, read the trial group

The STEP 1 weight-loss study included adults without diabetes. Some had obesity; others had overweight and another health problem related to weight.

After 68 weeks, the average change in body weight was −14.9% in the semaglutide group; the placebo group, given dummy treatment, averaged −2.4%.

The study included lifestyle support and regular visits, and was funded by Novo Nordisk.

A group average cannot predict an individual’s result.

Page notes[a]

For warnings, read the actual product label

Semaglutide products differ in approved uses, and the label supplies the warnings for the named product.

Ask the prescriber which label matches the prescription. Read the patient information alongside it and mark the terms you want explained.

For rules, keep the date with the answer

Legal and price summaries in these pages use the September 26, 2026 record.

Use a state board for the current licence record. Ask the plan or service for current payment terms before committing to a bill.

Patients and health professionals can both send medicine reports through FDA’s MedWatch programme.
